Workplace safety is no joke – let’s talk about the laws!

It is the employer’s highest (honor)duty to support and protect his or hers highest value – the health and well-being of the employee – to ensure safe and healthy working conditions through preventive work. We all want to get home healthy!

In daily work momentum, workplace hazards often tend to go unnoticed, and the necessary prevention shifts consciously or out of focus. That is why national law is in place – we take it as an official and systematic list of reminders. 😉

Over the years, we have experienced and seen numerous different situations with our team and overhauled the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Here are the 10 most important employer responsibilities for you.

Grab a cup of coffee & let’s get started!

ORGANIZE WORKING ENVIRONMENT RISK ANALYSIS, which gives a compact overview of workplace risks (including in the office!) The risk analysis may be carried out by yourself or by the appropriate service providers.

COMPILING SAFETY MANUALS for the work to be done and the tools to be used. The primary purpose of safety manuals is to provide a complete picture of the processes that would guarantee the employee with the safest possible working environment.

INTRODUCE THE SAFETY MANUAL to all employees of the company and get their assurance of what they’ve seen & heard.

ASSIGN AND ISSUE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT and take confirmation from the employee that they have received it.

CARRY OUT HEALTH CHECK FOR WORKERS EXPOSED WITH RISKS – do not mix up health inspection with health certificate!

APPOINT A WORKING ENVIRONMENT SPECIALIST who organizes and assures safe and healthy working environment.

CHOOSE WORK ENVIRONMENT REPRESENTATIVE (it can be different in different countries) who represents the employees views about workplace health & safety.

CONSTITUTE WORKING ENVIRONMENT COUNCIL (it can be different in different countries), the main function of which is to analyze and, if necessary, make suggestions for improving the working environment.

DESIGNATE AT LEAST 1 FIRST AID PROVIDER, who will undergo 16-hour first-aid training and then every 3 years 8-hour refresher training.

DEVELOP INTERNAL CONTROL SYSTEM, to ensure regular safety oversight!

All of this may seem like an endlessly reluctant task at first glance, but taking a step by step is all workable. On top of that, using VITS can automate your work and forget about Excel (see also why VITS is better than excel).

Be sure to try it – 14 days free! Any questions and suggestions are welcome! 😉
